கற்றது தமிழ்

July 19- Yesterday was a wake up call. A call to have a good look at myself,an evaluation of me being an Indian. The funny thing is that it came from the wise words of one Vijaya T. Rajendar. I know this sounds daft, but i mean it. As some of you reading this might know, this man is notorious with his punch-lines,mostly about his love for his little sister
(hold for laughter).
But it was on அரட்டை அரங்கம் , a show which airs on every Sunday morning that this man gave a rant which opened my eyes about the state of us Indians. He talked about on how we communicate among each other in
தமிழ் and corrupt it by adding in English phrases in a conversation. That was like a direct shot at me.
From the moment that i was born, I've been raised to speak only in English,i don't know what's the real reason behind it, maybe my parents want me to be surrounded in an English "society"...despite the fact that i eat rice and curry for like what,20 years or so?
I felt ashamed about it, it's as though like i'm some high-end kid or something. I took the initiative to learn speaking in my mother tongue, and at seven, spoke my first words of தமிழ் to an old lady at my school. Damn was i so proud of it. And it followed throughout the latter stages of my life, and even though i'm not in a range of a philosopher or anything, i am able to read in தமிழ் at least.
Even when i had my haircut yesterday, this Indian lady was bitching with her husband on the phone in Indian-ized English, adding up English phrases like my man T.R said earlier. It seems we're still the Sipahi's for the English then.  When would this stop among ourselves, that i don't have a clue.

Waiting for a train

July 17- Went to watch Inception yesterday, breaking my duck of visiting theaters after a lengthy period of time. Honestly, i kind of lost that feeling to catch a movie in cinemas these days, seeing how ridiculous movies are, the last few years has been about machines beating the pixels out of each other, unnecessary remakes, and the ongoing crap-tacular saga that is Twilight.
But i ain't gonna let this one pass. No siree. The first Christopher Nolan film i watched was Memento, so i do have the experience about his movies and had become a fan since. And didn't he nailed it again in Inception. I don't want to elaborate further, because words really can't explain my thoughts about it in full. In the current times where vampires and wolfs romancing some pale looking girl has been the "in" thing, it clearly is no match to the master stroke of Inception. Not only Twilight, but any movie you could think of this year, i don't give a damn if it's 3-D, clearly loses to the depth of story telling by Christopher Nolan. Thank you sir for breathing in new life in modern cinema, and after watching Inception, made me look deeper into life at a different angle. You are one of the best filmmakers of all time, no doubt about that.

Where is your mind?

July 15-At last, the 2010 FIFA World Cup ended and congratulations to Spain by winning it for the first time in their history, but a shame really considering the vast talent they possess. But that's not the reason I'm ranting today, i have this urge to speak out about a particular subject which clearly has made me all riled up.

The subject being how pathetic of some football fans are in this country. What is seriously wrong with you pricks? How can you have that feeling of no dignity when you jump from one team to another? Does that make you feel like a pimp? More like a wuss in my way of looking at it. There's a term we use here in Malaysia, which is called the "Lalang". A lalang is someone who has no problems of changing it's stripes, one day it's blue, and on another day its pink.

The current generation of football followers are plain un-fucking-believable. Once, there was this status update from this girl at Facebook, it read "Oh no, Germany lost,
(group stage game against Serbia) which team should i support now?" I mean are you serious? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS BITCH?! It's just a group stage match and already your thinking of supporting another team? Is living in a nation where the national side has literally no chance of qualifying gives you the privilege to pick whatever team you want? Fuck you!

Then there was this dude, i don't wanna name him here, but if your reading this, you'll know it for sure that I'm referring about you. First...Brazil. Next, Argentina, then you went a step further by rooting for Spain! What? Where did you Spain fans suddenly emerge? I get it, must be the ones who supported Germany earlier, figured that they were unstoppable right, so for sure Germany, oh wait... they lost to Spain. All right then, Spain it is!

The passion comes from within, not just some lame-ass pride you think would be cool to prove those around you. At least the guy below has more credibility than any of you assholes.

Wrong The Future

July 8-This sums up the performance of the players in the "Write The Future" ad... thanks to the lovely folks at talkSPORT Magazine.

Repulsive

July 1- The last few weeks were devastating. Not only did the pampered Lions got knocked out from Muller and Co, but the way they lost the game was dreadful. Well, maybe they'll make it in the next World Cup, and this is what I've been telling to myself since France 98.
The pain didn't end there. Getting my hands on the MTV World Stage passes weren't that fruitful. To be honest, i don't give a bell end about it really. The lineup of artists is not my cup of tea, but i wanna win those passes so i could finally meet this girl i got to know of from the World Wide Web. I almost had it though, when i spotted the naked Junior holding up the WIN sign. Here i was so excited about the prospect of hanging out with her when all of a sudden i was held back by the question i had to answer in order to win those passes.... the question being the director of Katy Perry's video " I Kissed A Girl". Oh crap.
I haven't got a clue, even though the options were laid out in front of me. The answer of course was Kinga Burza, knew that after i ran a search on it. But my answer was too late for their liking and i was notified to try again... HELL'S NO!!!
As if all this were not enough, i got down with stomach bug recently. Constant trips to the toilet is like putting the final touches on what has been a grueling life so far.

Man In The Mirror

June 29- It's been four days since the first anniversary of Michael's death, and it's still hard to digest. It was on the early morning of June 26, last year when i'd received the news anyone didn't see coming. My sister texted me about it, and i just couldn't believe it. My first reaction was that she is playing some sort of sick joke, and to confirm that i ran down to turn on my telly, but what i saw was just your ordinary news. I continued flipping through the channels, but there was absolutely nothing about Michael. I turned on the radio next...this would confirm it, i mean surely if the folks at the radio didn't play Michael's songs then my sis will be facing my wrath.

"You Are Not Alone" was the song played on the radio, and it shook me. My belief was still strong still, thinking it's just a coincidence since the station was LiteFM. It was true after all, when they announced that Michael Jackson had passed away. Daze was the feeling at that moment, and when "Man In The Mirror" played, i broke down. It was the worst feeling i have ever felt in my 20 years as a human being.

There's not enough words to say about Michael, and the world has lost the most prized jewel on it's crown. What made him special is he's not just a musician, he was more of a humanitarian. Tell me now, who's out there that has a heart of a gold like this man? He has touched the hearts of many around the world, heck even in war-torn nations, Michael's music is appreciated.

You'll never be erased in my memories Michael, may your soul rest in peace, away from those who tormented your soul.

Watching paint dry, and the colour of it is Green

June 19-  So, it's more than a week since S. Africa and Mexico locked horns for the opener, and even after all the other group matches were played, it hasn't been up to expectations. Yeah, there were some shock results, but who really gives a squat about that really. The real highlight so far is the never ending saga of howlers from the England goalies. Come on, not again?

It's one of life's greatest mysteries, well in my way of looking at it. Just why can't they avoid it? Is it because of one Sven-Goran Eriksson, former manager of the Three Lions whose sole purpose in life is banging aunties? That  could have stirred the emotions of the players even to this day, ask John Terry and Ashley Cole. Is it the army of WAG's? What the fuck is it really? Why do you keepers flap on the big stage?

The first time i remembered seeing you guys initiated these serial blunders is at 02, when a speculative lob by Ronaldinho went past David Seaman, who in fact is a decent goalie compared to the ones that England have right now. Then it never ended, everyone of you glove happy men continued the tradition...

And on England's first game of this World Cup, Robert Green joined in the fray. A tame shot by Clint Dempsey somehow squirmed past you sir, and welcome to the club.

If that's not enough, here is a re-enactment of the game in Lego

The king of all calamities has taken over your position Rob, and i wonder what could happen next. The second game against Algeria was even dreadful, and elimination in the group stage looks certain unless you handsomely paid gentlemen step up against Slovenia, which happens to be the group leaders. For crying out loud, please improve or prepare to be pelted.
